Objective & Topics
The purpose of this seminar is to provide an international forum for detailed technical discussion of topics relevant to the analysis and assurance of fire safety in nuclear power plants and other nuclear installations.
The planned technical sessions address the following areas:
- Regulation and standards
- Fire safety in the design and operation of new and future NPP
- Operating experience and lessons learned
- Experimental research and results
- Fire model experience and validation
- Deterministic fire safety analysis and fire PSA
- Risk-informed, performance-based fire protection
- General experience
Structure & Proceedings
The seminar consists of a single track of technical sessions with presentations which will be conducted on October 28 and 29, 2019.
Authors are requested to limit their formal presentations to 30 minutes; including a minimum of 5 minutes for discussion.
Full papers (12 pages maximum) have to be provided by August 30, 2019.
A dinner event will be arranged for participants of FSEP 2019 and SMiRT Fire Seminar. Spouses are also very welcome, however have to pay for the dinner. Details can be found on the FSEP 2019 website.
Proceedings
An electronic version that includes each paper along with other relevant information will be provided to participants during the Seminar.
Written proceedings will be published after the seminar and freely available to SMiRT Fire Seminar participants.
Location & Accomodation
The Seminar will take place together with FSEP 2019 at the Westin Ottawa representing an ideal location for an international conference in the center of Canada´s capital. Ottawa can be easily reached by all means of transportation.
The FSEP 2019 2.5-days core program is comprised of 12 plenary sessions and 4 technical sessions the first two days of the conference. The technical sessions will present and share the latest work and information in the important areas of fire safety and emergency preparedness as well as mechanisms of emergency management and response that support enhanced interoperability.
The SMiRT Fire Seminar will be held in parallel to the FSEP 2019 Conference the first two days of the FSEP conference (October 28 to 29, 2019) to maximize interaction of delegates and exhibitor engagement. SMiRT Fire Seminar and FSEP 2019 delegates will be able benefit from the technical sessions offered by both conferences.
A block of guest rooms has been secured at the Westin for FSEP 2019 and SMiRT Fire Seminar participants. More information can be found on the FSEP 2019 website.
Accomodation
Arranging travel and accommodations is the responsibility of each Seminar participant. Funding of the seminar is neither possible to support participant travel nor for hotel accommodation.
